Southwest Nature Park
Description:
The Southwest Reserve, also known as the National Botanical Garden, is located in the heart of Windhoek. Initially, the area was designated as a natural park, but due to lack of funding, this project has not yet been implemented. The area of the reserve is only 0.12 square kilometers. Its foundation dates back to 1970.
In 1990, the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) moved into buildings adjacent to the reserve and carried out work aimed at improving the garden with an emphasis on education and recreation. Most of the reserve was not landscaped and landscaped to preserve the flora in their natural environment. Thanks to this, visitors can compare the usual local vegetation and the fruits of wise gardening.
