Dattarei Square

Square Dattareya, Bhaktapur, Nepal

Description:

Dattarei Square, located in Bhaktapur, Nepal, is one of the most popular tourist destinations. The square is named after the Dattarei sanctuary located on it.

The renovated sanctuary was built in 1427 from a single tree trunk, like the famous Kastha Mandal sanctuary in Kathmandu, and is considered one of the oldest in the city. It is dedicated to three deities: Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. Inside the building you can see the symbols of the deities.

Also on the square is the sanctuary of Bhisman, dedicated to one of the heroes of the ancient Indian epic, the building of the former Pujari monastery, which now houses the National Museum of Wood Carving, and the Brass and Bronze Museum.
