Champa Gompa Temple

Located a few kilometers east of the city of Lo Matang, in Nepal.

Description:

Champa Gompa Temple is a very ancient and revered Buddhist temple, which is famous for its ancient architecture and interior decoration. Champa Gompa is located east of the city of Lo Matang, in the mountains of Nepal. The temple is recognized as the cultural heritage of the country and is under the auspices of the state.

Champa Gompa is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. It was built in the early fifteenth century, during the reign of King Angon Sangpo. The temple cannot be called monumental, its dimensions are quite modest - 50 meters long and a little more than 25 meters wide. The height does not exceed 20 meters. But its interiors are a prominent example of ancient Buddhist art. The inner walls of Champa Gompa are richly decorated with mandalas - sacred religious symbols in the shape of a circle. Some of them are so large that they occupy several floors of the temple. Golden paint well emphasizes the skill of artists who painted the walls.

The Champa Gompa Temple is a unique cult site, equally sacred to all the currents of Buddhism spread in Nepal. However, even a non-religious person here also has something to see - the temple is very beautiful and exotic.
