Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes
Description:
The beautiful and powerful world of Everest will unfold before you on this journey. It must be honestly said that it is not available to everyone. It is desirable to have average physical training and, of course, great strength of character. This giant will not allow you to approach yourself with a weak spirit and soul. Therefore, we have created a program in which everyone can become strong thanks to a soft and competent acclimatization schedule.
No more than 12 people will be able to participate in this track. This is necessary to ensure maximum safety. You have to tell the truth that it may not be easy. For our part, we can give professional advice, timely assistance and support on each specific segment of the trip. Activate your powers, break away from everyday life and enjoy the views of the impregnable and legendary Everest.
Fulfill your dream, leave the routine of everyday life and get an unforgettable drive from contemplating the summit of the World from its base camp.
Day 1. Kathmandu gathering
Collection in Kathmandu before 10:00, acquaintance of the group, obtaining documents for the entrance to the closed protected area. Time to buy all the necessary things and equipment. First visit to Nepal and its capital.
Day 2. Flight to Lukla
And right in the middle of it. A key extreme feeling of the day is flying to Lukla. The weather can disrupt all plans and the flight is postponed or delayed, so you will need to be prepared for any option. After reaching Lukla, we will walk 3-4 hours and reach the town of Monjo. This will be our first overnight stop.
Day 3. The capital of the Sherpas is Namche Bazar.
After breakfast we will head to the capital of Sherpas – Namche Bazaar. Many people do not know that Sherpas are a nationality. In today’s world, people think it’s a profession. Men of this tribe are constantly hired as the most hardy and adapted to high-altitude expeditions. Near Monjo begins a long climb up. But it is justified, as we are waiting for a magnificent view of the hidden town. Namche Bazar is considered the center of active life of the Solo Khumbu region. Another bonus: from the windows of the loggia, we will have a view of the marvelous Kongde with a height of slightly more than 6000 m.
Day 4. A busy walk in Namche.
Then we will spend the acclimatization day in Namcha. Kill two birds with one stone! We will walk around the city and see the sights. We will look at the museum of Sherpa life, visit the memorial to Tenzing Norgay. The memorial is dedicated to the Nepalese Sherpa, a mountaineer who was the first (coupled with Edmund Hillary) to climb Everest. If the weather is good, we can look at the stunning peaks of Tamserku and Ama Dablam. To improve our health, we will make a small climb of 500 meters and visit the monastery, where the skull of the Etti is preserved; we will also go to the school organized by Edmund Hillary. In general, we will have a rich and interesting day.
Day 5. Tiangboche crossing at Pangboche.
We move at a calm and smooth pace to the settlement of Tjangboche. There is a Buddhist monastery that is open to visitors. Monks are very hospitable and happy to communicate with tourists. On the way we will meet chic species of mountain supergiants with their snow-white peaks and steep slopes. Tjangboche is a border that separates the warm jungle and the magical kingdom of the mountains. In order not to spend the night in this windy place, we will walk another hour and a half to the pleasant settlement of Pangboche, where we will make a stop for overnight stay and rest.
Day 6. First conquest of the 4,000 m mark, Dingboche
Today we will conquer the mark of 4000 m and spend the night in the village of Dingboche. This village was founded at the foot of Ama-Dablam itself. Here is a completely different picture of nature, around a stone desert with small patches of moss, which yaks love to eat. The journey will be short and in the afternoon we will reach the loggia. We will walk around the neighborhood, and those who want to climb a little higher will have the opportunity to leave amazing photos of Ama-Dablam.
Day 7. Trip to the glacial lake
From now on, we move smoothly and slowly. Height should be gained at a calm pace, enjoying everything around. We must follow the rule: each next overnight stay cannot be higher than the previous one by more than 500 meters. Therefore, in order to properly pass high-quality acclimatization, we will enter the gorge and stop in the village of Chokung. This is where expeditions to Peak Island usually begin. For better acclimatization and adaptation to discharged air, it is desirable to move more. It is definitely not worth it, so after lunch we will make a hike to the glacial lake. We will do a lot of walks with benefits for the body and nourish the soul with impressions. It is safe to say that these are some of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Day 8. Climb to a height of 5083 m
We'll be back early in the morning at Dingboche from Chokung. We climb the height of 5083 m and climb to the observation deck, which offers a delightful view of all the nearby mountain peaks. This is a vantage point that gives you a view of another eight-thousander Makalu. And yet, the famous Ama-Dablam dominates this landscape.
Day 9. Khumbu Glacier
From Dingboche we will go to the village of Lobuche. Today we will see the famous Khumbu glacier, on which mountain climbers climb Mount Everest, for this you will have to climb to the moraine edge, and it is worth it. From now on, our path will be along this mighty giant.
Day 10. Taking Cal Pattara
The height is already noticeable, so each participant should carefully monitor the state of his body. Every day requires more physical and moral effort. Another move to Gorak Shep. This ascent to an altitude of 5140 m is the highest point of our night stands. Also, this day will be a memorable capture of Cala Patar - the summit height of 5550 m. The highest point in Europe, Elbrus, is 5,642 meters. From Kala Patara, another sightseeing view of Everest, Nubze and Lhotse opens up. This is a high-altitude show of unimaginable beauty. It is difficult to describe in words the impressions that come from meeting him. It's better to see it with your own eyes. The path is not easy, overcoming heights, as well as a huge victory over yourself. But the reward for every move and breath will be a grand view around. This splendor is impressive to the core and will be remembered for a lifetime.
Day 11. Everest Base Camp
After a long enough stay at altitude, our health will level off and change for the better. We have to move on. There is something else that we have not seen in this wonderful land of snow, ice and powerful mountain giants. If you have time and opportunity, this day we will visit Everest Base Camp located on the Khumbu Glacier. It is here that climbers begin climbing the highest peaks of Nepal and the world. And then we go back to Lobucha.
Day 12. Moving to Dzongla village
We’ve accomplished one feat, and now it’s time to start the second one – moving towards the Gokyo Lakes. The road will be pleasant. Mountain sickness will not bother us as much as in the first days. We have to go down, then climb a little to the village before the pass called Dzongla, from where we will be pleased with their views of the peaks of Tabuche and Cholajie.
Day 13. Beautiful Cho La Pass, open glacier
After a good rest, we go on and overcome the very impressive pass Cho La 5330 m. Looking around, as everywhere, there are spectacular landscapes. Those moments when you numb with delight will be remembered forever. The path on the pass changes from time to time, so we will need more attention to our path. After going to the pass, perhaps for the first time in your life you will see a beautiful open glacier. Over the pass, the road goes down to the village of Tagnag, where we can have a wonderful rest for tea and a hot dinner.
Day 14. Ice lakes, Gokyo village
Slow and quiet day. Today we will see a magical ice lake of incredible blue color. Go only 4 km to the small village of Gokyo. Such a surprisingly blue color of the lake is explained by the fact that in such weather conditions no bacteria live, but they give the water a greenish tint. The lake is filled with absolutely clean, almost distilled water. serene and transparent, like any virgin element.
Day 15. Climbing Gokio Ri, Ngozumba Glacier
Attention! This day is reserved for unforeseen situations: if this happens, then Gokyo will immediately make a decrease in the Dole.
Extraordinary day of climbing another peak of Gokio Ri with a height of 5300 m. At this stage, with more stable acclimatization, it will be easier for us to do this, although it will take about 5 hours to go both ways. From the top will open another view of Everest and Lhotse with Nubze. You will also see the first three Gokyo lakes, the Ngozumba glacier and other amazing beauty of the Himalayas. It is important to have good weather, the views will always be great.
Day 16. Upper Gokyo Lakes, Ngozumba Glacier
Attention! This day is the second reserve in case of unusual situations: if necessary, the transition to the Dole will immediately begin from Gokyo.
We'll put things in storage at the guesthouse and go light to the upper lakes of Gokyo. They are hidden a little further from the well-known path. We are guaranteed a beautiful view while moving along the indestructible Ngozumba glacier. Getting to the lakes you can take a huge number of stunning photos and just enjoy life. Not everyone gets to this non-man-made work of art and it's another small win. If weather conditions allow and we have enough time, we can reach the base camp of Cho Oyu and even the 6th lake.
Day 17. Descent to Dole
Yay down! To warmth and comfort! To oases of green grass and warm colors of nature. It's time to come down! Flying step, almost running, down to Dola. It is located at an altitude of 4200 m, but here we feel like a paradise.
Day 18. Return to Namche Bazaar
From Dole we will go to Namche Bazaar. The transition will be quite difficult and long: with descents and ascents. After lunch, we will reach Namche, where we will receive a reward: a hot shower, rest and comfort.
Day 19. Moving to Lucla
Next crossing to Lukla. The road will be decorated with green grass, and you can go only in thermocopter, enjoying and basking in the rays of the warm sun.
Day 20. Flight to Kathmandu
Flight again, now back from Lukla to Kathmandu. To the noisy, abundant city and all the joys of civilization. If the airport is closed due to bad weather, then we have another day in reserve.
Day 21. Goodbye and flying home
The final and reserve day for the weather. If Lukla let us go and we flew out according to plan, then it is time to walk, look for souvenirs and sweets, visit the ancient temple or visit other local attractions. Exchange phone numbers with new friends, and return home to your modern life with chores and responsibilities. It gets a little sad, but after such a trip no one remained the same. Everest changes forever, even those who could only approach its foot.
