12 cities claim the title of “City of Labor Valor”
Another 12 settlements of Russia were nominated for the title “City of Labor Valor” for a huge contribution to the Victory during the Great Patriotic War: supplying the front, extracting resources, saving the wounded.
Among the applicants are Pervouralsk, Korolev, Yoshkar-Ola, Vyatsky Polyany, Saransk, Cheremkhovo, Ussuriysk, Berezniki, Kopeisk, Serov, Ukhta and Biysk.
At a meeting of the organizing committee “Victory” Vladimir Putin called the preservation of the memory of the labor feat a sacred duty and the basis of the unity of the country. Assigning the status not only pays tribute to the residents of cities, but also gives impetus to their development: memorial steles are installed in cities, landscaping is included in the routes of patriotic tourism.
One of the key routes is the national project “Far Eastern Victory”: it will unite the places of fame of the region and show the role of the defeat of the Kwantung Army in the end of World War II. According to Pavel Pokrovsky, a member of the commission, such work inspires young people to choose working and engineering professions.
As part of the national project “Tourism and hospitality industry”, it is planned to increase the number of trips around the country to 140 million per year by 2030.
