Abkhazia cancels resort fee
In Abkhazia, from January 1, the law on the abolition of the resort fee came into force (was adopted by the parliament in July 2022).
The abolition of the resort fee is associated with the absence of a significant financial effect and an additional burden on tax authorities.
The law “On the resort fee” has been in force in the republic since 2006. It provided for a resort fee of 30 rubles for foreign citizens staying in Abkhazia for more than 3 days.
Inara Benia, head of the department of analysis, forecasting and development of the resort and tourism industry of the Ministry of Tourism of Abkhazia, said that in 2022 more than 1.1 million people visited the republic on vacation and excursions, (350,000 less than in 2021, when this figure was a record for 29 years).
