“Without taking into account the principle of reciprocity”: visa-free entry to Russia is planned for foreigners
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government and relevant departments to prepare proposals for the establishment of a visa-free regime for foreigners to travel to Russia for tourist, business, educational purposes, to participate in sports and cultural events.
As emphasized in the list of instructions published on the Kremlin website, a visa-free regime for such trips should be established “without taking into account the principle of reciprocity.” The order is addressed to the government, the Foreign Ministry, the Interior Ministry and the FSB.
The first report on the implementation of the order will be submitted to the President until June 1, 2023.
By this date, proposals should be made to extend the validity of a multiple tourist Russian visa and the renewal of a single electronic visa for citizens of foreign countries not included in the list of unfriendly countries.
The President instructed to spread in the subjects of the Russian Federation the practice of St. Petersburg, which provides for visa-free entry to Russia and temporary stay in the country as part of organized groups of foreigners - cruise ship passengers.
