What happens to the beach after a pandemic? Italians are not losing hope of saving the season

Lorenza Buonaccorsi, Italy's deputy culture minister, said a seaside holiday this summer would be a reality for Italians.

According to her, the authorities are working on this, but without the creation of a vaccine, a full return to normal life is impossible.

The main measure that Italian officials are going to take to ensure safety on the beaches is to reduce the number of sun loungers, the introduction of their booking function. The umbrellas will be spread over a distance of at least 10 m, and special beach visiting hours will be established for holidaymakers from the risk group, especially the elderly.

Frequent disinfection of equipment is required. Mass games and other activities will be banned. Infectious disease doctor Gemelli Roberto Cauda sees no sense in masks unless people break their distance.

Another possible innovation is plastic booths. Each will have two sun loungers to create an obstacle to the virus.

The pilot project will be implemented in the Emilia-Romagna region: there is a high concentration of beach resorts.

It is possible that foreigners will not be able to relax in Italy in the summer, so while Italians are betting on the opening of domestic tourism.
