To leave the country will have to pay - Maldives introduces an exit tax
From January 1, 2022, the Maldives will abolish the airport fee (15 USD) and introduce an exit tax instead.
Economy class passengers will pay 30 USD, business class – 60 USD, first class – 90 USD. Those who plan to return home on a private plane will be charged the highest amount - 130 USD. Tourists will not have to pay the tax separately - it will be included in the ticket price.
For persons departing from Velana airport in Male, there is another fee - "for the development of the airport" - 25 USD.
Tour operators believe that these fees will not affect the interest of Russians in the Maldives, as the cost of the tour in any case is high.
