FAS, Rospotrebnadzor, Rosturizm pointed out to hotels the illegality of unilateral cancellation of reservations
After stopping air traffic with Turkey, Russians began to be interested in resting in the Black Sea resorts. In hotels, tourists noted cases of cancellation of reservations in order to subsequently sell accommodation at a higher price.
FAS, Rospotrebnadzor and Rosturizm published a joint letter in which they point to the illegality of such actions.
One of the parties may insist on the termination of the contract if the circumstances have changed: the travel dates have been postponed, transport tariffs have sharply increased, etc. But the desire of hoteliers to abandon their obligations to provide accommodation at a more favorable price for them cannot be a reason for cancellation.
The relevant agencies remind that such actions violate the legislation of the Russian Federation.
If a tourist is faced with a cancellation situation by a hotel or tour operator, he can go to court. The territorial office of Rospotrebnadzor can also act as an applicant, based on publications in the media or appeals of victims.
