Where did the Russians rest in the summer of 2018?
The All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion conducted a survey on vacations among Russians. The study was attended by 1,600 respondents who live in 80 regions of the Russian Federation.
Only 6% of Russians were able to relax abroad (in 2017, the number of vacationers in foreign resorts was 1% more). Sociologists note the tendency to reduce the number of tourists who can afford to relax abroad.
The results of the summer season – 2018 was influenced by the World Cup – many could not take a vacation because of work on it, or decided to spend money on tickets for matches.
Russian spending on foreign holidays also decreased. In terms of one family member, the budget for traveling abroad is 37,179 rubles, in 2017 the figure reached 37,363 rubles.
Participants of the tourist market confirm that in the current season, customers saved everything: shortened the duration of the trip, chose budget hotels and refused excursions.
Interestingly, the gap between the number of rested on the Black Sea coast last summer and the 2017 season has grown. In 2018, 9% of respondents could afford to spend their holidays on the Black Sea coast (against 15% in 2017). Of these, 6% chose Krasnodar Krai (in the summer of 2017 there were 11% of them), and Crimea – only 3% (twice less than last year).
According to experts, the decisions of Russians about trips affected the unstable economic situation – a year ago, the ruble was more stable.
The majority of respondents, as a year ago, spent holidays at home (32%), in the country (26%), every tenth respondent (10%) went on vacation to one of the corners of Russia.
