Gondoliers in Venice will stop singing for security reasons

The favorite entertainment of tourists in Venice has lost some charm.

In Venice, a "Safe Shipping Plan" is being developed, due to an incident that occurred a couple of days ago when a gondola and a boat collided with a German tourist.

The city administration is quickly developing a new traffic system. 26 items, which, in the opinion of the administration, will help to streamline water traffic, will be spelled out in the new “Safe Shipping Plan”.

Several of these items:

  • Drawing up a schedule for various types of water transport;
  • Prohibition of overtaking in "congestion" places;
  • Prohibition of private motorboat owners from 6 am to noon;
  • Prohibition of the movement of gondolas during the work of cargo boats;
  • The Rialto Bridge and Cape Punta della Dogana will have a permanent police patrol (probably controlling traffic).
  • And even a ban on serenading by Gondoliers from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and other equally interesting rules.
