In Egypt will open a ski resort

Egypt is not only a desert and an amazing Red Sea. Surprisingly, Egypt can become a popular ski resort in the Middle East.

In Cairo opened a giant shopping center Mall of Egypt, its main feature is an indoor ski resort, which became the second such in the region. The first snow park was built in Dubai.

The new $700 million indoor ski complex covers 167,000 square meters and is built on the outskirts of Cairo. This is the first artificial indoor ski complex in Africa.

The Majid Al Futaim Group, which built this snowy slope in the middle of the desert, has a positive track record of creating such sports centers. Earlier they opened a snow island in one of the shopping centers in Dubai. The owners of the complex are sure that such ski resorts will attract tourists from all over the world. Now in Egypt, you can take a break from the heat in the snow center, engage in extreme winter sports or get lessons for beginners. In the ski complex, in addition to natural snow, there are lifts, so children will be able to sculpt snowmen or play snowballs, and adults will be able to snowboard or ski.

The entertainment center additionally houses 350 shops of local manufacturers and foreign sellers, a cinema with 21 halls and two family entertainment centers.

The area of the shopping complex is 165,000 square meters. It is expected that it will create 40,000 jobs (at the facilities located in it, and at suppliers).

Majid Al Futtaim Leisure (MAF) was founded by Arab billionaire Majid Al Futtai in 1992. Since then, it has become a global business. The company owns a huge shopping center in Mirdif City Centre, which houses a zero gravity flight center. Dubai has built the world’s second-largest Mall of the Emirates, a prototype snowpark in Egypt.

Many investors were afraid to invest in construction in Egypt, fearing the swings in the local currency and the events of the Arab Spring (2011). However, Majid Al Futaim Group is optimistic about opening other shopping and entertainment centers in Egypt.
