Foreigners lack information about Yekaterinburg

The main problem in the development of inbound tourism in the Sverdlovsk region is the lack of information about the region abroad. This conclusion was reached by the participants of the round table on business tourism held in Yekaterinburg, JustMedia writes.

According to Marina Chebotayeva, the general director of one of the largest industrial companies, the lack of tourist information for foreigners is a big problem: “Foreign guests come to us constantly for work. Of course, they always have some time to see the region in which they came to work. Many of them are happy and ready to know the information in advance, but it simply does not exist. Not in print, not on websites. The most you can find is a few lines about the execution of the king. And this situation is not only abroad, but also in our city.” According to Marina Chebotayeva, her company had to sponsor the release of a tourist guide to the Urals so that customers could get information about the region. Now the information is available in Chinese, German and English.

According to experts, the meeting is not enough. information about Yekaterinburg in Italian and Spanish.

Director of the Ural Tourist Guild Ruslan Shcheglov said that the problem of slow development of inbound business tourism is that this type of business is unprofitable for local companies. The organization of all major events in Yekaterinburg and the region is taken by Moscow companies. They set conditions unfavorable for local businesses. Therefore, now in Yekaterinburg, only two companies are engaged in inbound tourism, said Ruslan Shcheglov.

According to Deputy Director of the Agency for Regional Development Pavel Zdravomyslov, many foreigners consider the Urals as a place of practice after studying at the university. Abroad travel agencies They have similar offers on their territory for foreigners, but there are no such offers in the Sverdlovsk region. Because of this, a large flow of potential customers in the area does not fall.

The participants of the round table expressed the idea of creating a non-profit organization that would unite the work of representatives of various companies in the field of inbound tourism and monitor the activities of capital companies in this sector in the Sverdlovsk region. Perhaps the establishment of the organization will be considered in the near future.
