How many Russians spent the summer abroad?
VTSIOM conducted a survey of Russians on the topic of rest of Russians. In the summer, only 2% of Russian tourists spent their holidays abroad.
In the summer of pre-pandemic 2019, 8% of Russian citizens rested abroad, in 2020 the number of travelers decreased to almost zero, and in 2021 - 13%.
In the summer of 2022, Russians went to Turkey (34%), Abkhazia (14%), Kazakhstan (11%), Thailand (7%), Egypt (5%), Armenia and the UAE (4% each).
In Russia, 16% of tourists spent holidays, the highest figure since 2018. Russians showed special interest in St. Petersburg and Moscow (11% each), the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory (7%), Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod (6%), Altai (5%), Volgograd (4%).
The main positive aspects of vacation in Russia are beautiful nature, climate and clean air (19%), good weather (17%), the third place is occupied by bright emotions and the opportunity for active recreation (13%).
28% did not identify any disadvantages, 17% complained about the high cost of housing, food and recreation, 10% – extreme heat, natural disasters, bad weather and insects.
