Israel spends millions on advertising
The Israeli Ministry of Tourism is ready to spend twelve and a half million dollars (45 million shekels) on an advertising campaign that will bring tourists back to the country. Potential tourists are being persuaded that the wave of political protests in the Middle East has not affected Israel.
Events as part of the advertising campaign, which will take place over several months, will be held in Russia, the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. Israel will be presented as a safe and attractive tourist destination.
According to statistics, the flow of tourists in February this year decreased in Israel by 2% compared to last year. A slight drop in figures is due to the fact that the number of trips per day has decreased. At the same time, the number of tourists who spent more than one night in the country increased by 10%.
But Russia donates much less money to advertise its tourism. For example, in 2010, 3.5 million dollars (101 million rubles) were allocated for these purposes.
