Every year, the JACDEC Center for Aircraft Accident Assessment (Germany) prepares the top safety of world aviation companies. The rating includes 100 air carriers, each received its own risk index.

Finnair was the safest airline in the world in 2018. The Finnish national carrier’s risk index is 93.91% (maximum 100%). Finnair suffered a small number of accidents, accidents and passenger injuries in 2018. The airline has not had a major accident since the 1960s, even on training flights and in the process of maintenance.

Second place went to Scoot Tigerair (Singapore Airlines). The third place is taken by Norwegian Air Shuttle. The fourth position on flight safety was taken by Emirates airline from the UAE. Top 5 was closed by the carrier from Spain Air Europa.

Also, the most reliable airlines are low-cost airline Transavia (Holland), Arab Etihad Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways (Britain), Dutch KLM and low-cost airline from Australia Jetstar Airways.

At the end of the list are airlines from Russia, Ethiopia, Indonesia. The full rating will be available in mid-January.

According to JACDEC, flights are becoming safer. This is despite the fact that 562 people were killed in aviation accidents last year - 10 times more than in 2017. Air travel is about 4 times safer than it was 25 years ago, despite the growth in passenger traffic. JACDEC experts believe that there will be no 100% safety of flights, but aircraft are one of the safest modes of transport.
