Italians are seeking the inclusion of espresso coffee in the UNESCO list of intangible heritage sites. The Consortium for the Conservation of Beverages reports that a significant event will occur in 2020.
Espresso made in traditional coffee machines in bars and cafes across the country is an integral part of Italian culture. This is the opinion of members of the political party Italia Viva. We know very well how important coffee is to Italians and to people all over the world.
The initiators of the inclusion of the drink in the UNESCO list speak of their vision of the perfect espresso: coffee is prepared by a trained barista using a bar coffee machine and freshly ground coffee beans for 20-27 seconds. A thin layer of cream foam should be uniform and hold for at least 120 seconds from the moment of application. The color of the drink is dark brown with light veins. For espresso, you need to use porcelain cups with a narrow bottom, the weight of the coffee should be 13-26 grams, the temperature from 90 ° C to 96 ° C.
In the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity UNESCO officially included more than 500 customs, carnivals, ceremonies, traditions. For example, the production of bobbin lace in Slovenia, brewing in Belgium, puppetry in Egypt, reggae in Jamaica, Neapolitan pizza.
