How a pandemic could affect hotel accommodation

Hotels are closed in almost all countries, but their management is looking for ways to make their stay safer in the future.

Express interviewed employees of major hotel chains about possible changes in the order of stay of tourists.

Hoteliers intend to make more frequent and thorough disinfection of areas and objects that guests often use. Cleaners will pay increased attention to washing door handles, light switches, TV remotes, thermostat buttons. To show guests that after cleaning, no one entered the room, the rooms can be sealed.

At the entrance to the building, in areas of heavy traffic, in elevators, gymnasiums, restaurants will put disinfecting stations, consider the possibility of disinfecting the premises with special sprayers and ultraviolet light.

Many plan to revise the filling of rooms and replace some items with digital analogues: a guest guide, paper notebooks and pens may disappear from the rooms. In return, guests will be offered an electronic catalog, and accessories for recordings will be on request.

Registration at the hotel can become completely contactless. To select a number and gain access to the room using a digital key, a mobile application in the phone will be used.

Some networks to reduce contacts involve abandoning room service and introducing a rule that will allow you to sit in the elevator one at a time if guests are not settled together.
