How did the cost of rooms in Turkish hotels increase?

Income of Turkish hoteliers and hotel accommodation prices Turkey reached a three-year high in 2019, but the hotel sector is dreaming of a return to the price benchmarks of seven years ago and hopes for growth in tourist traffic in 2020.

The Turkish Hotels Association (TÜROB) has published a final report on the sector’s performance in 2019: the country’s hotel industry last year increased in key indicators: occupancy, room price (ADR), income per room (RevPAR).

The average occupancy of hotels in Turkey in 2019 is 67.6%, 2.4% higher than in 2018. The average room price rose 10.4 per cent to €77.4 and room revenue increased 13 per cent to €52.3.

The most successful destinations in Turkey are Istanbul and Antalya. In Antalya, the annual occupancy rate was 65.7%.

According to TÜROB, the hotel industry did not reach the level of 2012, when record prices and revenues were recorded.

TÜROB predicts that in the 2020 season, hotels in Turkey will rise by at least 10%.

According to ATOR experts, such a price change will not have a significant impact on the demand for the Turkish destination, and tourists can compensate for the increase by buying tours for early booking promotions.

According to the forecasts of industry associations of Turkey, the tourism sector of the country will continue to grow due to the preservation of the volume of tourist flows from the inbound markets of Russia and Germany.

Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TUROFED): In 2020, foreign tourist flow to Turkey will increase by 15% and the number of foreigners will exceed 50 million people.

The foreign visitor left an average of $666 in Turkey in 2019. Russians spent on vacation 471 dollars per tourist.
