On June 6, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the head of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze spoke about unexpected trends in 2026 among Russian travelers.

According to her, now is not the birth of new types of tourism, but a “new rediscovery” of existing niches. In particular, tourists are again gaining popularity trips to monasteries (“monastery”) and travel to the countryside with accommodation in remote villages (“izbing”). Lomidze said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In addition, there is a growing interest in immersion in traditional culture: more and more travelers choose master classes in folk art crafts. A separate trend is agrotourism: for example, participation in the collection of apples.
