The Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) reports: tour operators record a growing demand among Russians for cruises to the Arctic, last year the tourist flow to the region exceeded a million people.
Tamara Naumenko, Marketing Director of Poseidon Expeditions: In the last few years, we have seen a steady increase in demand for travel to the polar regions. This year, for example, we will have three North Pole cruises, two of which have already been sold out.
The growing popularity of polar destinations in Russia is associated with the demand of the audience for more interesting and deep travel formats.
“The market today is oversaturated with mass production. And we see that travel, based on active cognition, is becoming a new trend, the expert said.
80% of customers re-enter Antarctic and Arctic cruises, but there has been a noticeable increase in new audiences, especially younger ones.
In the summer of 2024, the tour operator offers a cruise route to the largest archipelago of the Russian Arctic - Novaya Zemlya.
You can get to the Russian Arctic only as part of a scientific or tourist expedition. Arctic cruises in the waters of the Franz Josef Land archipelago and cruises to the North Pole with a call on the territory of the national park are held from July to September.
