What kind of tourism is popular in Russia?
The number of Russians interested in wine tourism has increased by 25% this year, said Irina Goncharova, Vice President for Tourism and Special Projects at the Russian Wine Forum.
“For those who are not yet familiar with this data, the popularity of wine tours has increased by 20%. This applies not only to the Krasnodar region, but also to all wine regions of the country. According to the Russian Union of Travel Industry, the number of travelers interested in wine tourism increased by 25%. This is a significant increase - a quarter over the year. No other segment of tourism shows such rapid growth, Goncharova said.
Of the 2.5 thousand tour operators registered in Russia, only 70, which is less than 3%, are engaged in wine tourism.
Russian wine tourism is becoming international, and its main source of growth are travelers from CIS countries.
Among the main trends in wine tours, she singled out the “economy of impressions”, reflecting the dissatisfaction of modern tourists with standard excursions and the growing interest in immersion in local culture and gastronomy, as well as in interaction with employees of wineries.
Another important area is the variety of tour formats, including master classes, festivals, tastings and the opportunity to communicate with winemakers, Goncharova added.
