When will the visa-free regime be introduced with India?
Visa-free travel between Russia and Republic of India It will be a powerful catalyst for the development of inbound tourism in the country, especially against the backdrop of growing demand from Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
This was stated by the Executive Director of the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze.
According to her, the number of Indian tourists visiting Russia in 2025 increased by 30% compared to the previous year, which indicates a significant interest of Indian travelers to the Russian destination. “The visa-free regime for Indian citizens will have a significant and long-term impact on the dynamics of inbound tourism,” Lomidze said in an interview with TASS.
Expanding visa-free access will not only simplify travel, but also open up new opportunities for the development of tourism infrastructure, including transport routes, the hotel sector and cultural and entertainment programs aimed at Asian audiences. This is a step towards strengthening Russia as one of the leading tourist destinations in Eurasia.
At the Russian-Indian Business Forum on December 4, 2025, Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov called for accelerating the introduction of a visa-free regime for group tourist trips between Russia and India.
Important steps have already been taken to simplify visa access: the validity of the e-visa for citizens of India has been extended to 120 days, and the maximum period of stay in the country has been increased to 30 days within one entry. According to the Minister, these measures create a solid basis for the further development of tourist and business ties.
