Coronavirus in Belarus: Tractor will cure everyone

Belarus It remains resolutely open to foreigners and does not impose quarantine restrictions on businesses.

Restaurants in the former Soviet republic continue to operate, and the country's football league continues its matches, gathering entire stadiums of fans.
Even though Belarus is on the doorstep of Europe battling the deadly Covid-19, life here goes on as if there is no coronavirus.

President Alexander Lukashenko has rejected global health efforts as “psychotic” and refused to follow the example of much of the world by banning foreigners from entering Belarus.

With fewer than 100 positive cases and no deaths in Belarus, Lukashenka this week said "there should be no panic."

The president urged his citizens to work on the land: The tractor will cure everyone. The fields treat everyone”.

The Belarusian championship, like the tractors in the country, continues to work.

Authorities are confident that the general blockage is not a solution to the coronavirus problem, but in recent days, people over 65 are being asked to stay at home and schoolchildren are being allowed to stay away from school.

During rush hour, trains on the subway are not as crowded as usual, Belarusian companies allow employees to work from home.
But bars, cafes and shops remain open, with no requests for distance.

Authorities justify the lack of quarantine measures by severely incarcerating those with a positive coronavirus test in infectious isolation cells.

Deputy Health Minister Elena Bogdan says anyone who has the virus or shows virus-like symptoms is isolated and hospitalized. And contact people go into quarantine.

The opposition condemned this official approach to the coronavirus problem in Belarus.
