Hotel prices in Rome will be controlled

The Italian press has repeatedly written that Roman hoteliers unreasonably inflated prices for accommodation in hotels in late April - early May. This increase in prices is primarily due to the fact that the beatification of John Paul II will take place on May 1.

The cost of accommodation in hotels in Rome during this period increased several times. For example, the cost of booking hotel rooms at the end of April - the beginning of May is four times higher than usual prices. The amount that hoteliers ask for shelter reaches 300-400 euros per night in the hotel is not the highest level. The Italian authorities intend to bring the situation under control and impose penalties for those who will deliberately inflate prices for no reason.

At the same time, hotel owners say that only demand contributes to higher prices.
