The Ministry of Transport will support the launch of another low-cost airline in Russia
The Ministry of Transport wants to support the initiative to launch a domestic low-cost airline that will operate on domestic routes. This information was reported by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Dietrich at the Eastern Economic Forum.
“Of course we do. Of course. On all sorts of internal lines, first and foremost. Today, our domestic lines are developing very intensively, additional transport capacities are required.”
Now in the Russian Federation there is only one low-cost carrier - the daughter of Aeroflot airline Pobeda. Before that, representatives of the Ministry of Transport had questions about the “aggressive” development of international low-cost airlines. Deputy head of the department Alexander Yurchik said that the problem of the airline is the misuse of containers. Yurchik noted that “Victory” was created for Russian passengers and primarily for domestic transportation, but then began to aggressively develop its foreign destinations.
SkyExpress was able to become a pioneer in the segment of Russian low-cost airlines, and worked for 5 years.
