Tunisian health ministry eases anti-coronavirus restrictions: quarantines for organised tourists

From November 9, Russia resumes flights with nine countries, including Tunisia.

Since October 16, the Ministry of Health of Tunisia has been relaxing anticoronavirus restrictions and lifting the seven-day quarantine for foreign tourists traveling on charter or regular flights through the tour operator.

“Due to the marked improvement in epidemiological indicators in Tunisia, the Ministry of Health has decided to ease the conditions for passengers arriving in Tunisia from 16 October. You can visit the republic without quarantine if you present a PCR test or a vaccination certificate, the report says.

Non-resident passengers arriving in Tunisia on charter flights or regular flights (on block seats) as part of organized trips (tour package) are exempt from a seven-day quarantine if they present a PCR test made 72 hours before departure when checking in for a flight at the airport. Children under 12 years of age are exempt from testing.

“The PCR test should not be taken to vaccinated tourists who have completed the vaccination at least 14 days before arriving in Tunisia and have the appropriate certificate,” the ministry said.

Experts in the tourism industry, the beach season in Tunisia is coming to an end and the rainy season is approaching, but small tourist flow on the destination can be counted on.

Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze: Despite the low season, there will be some demand for Tunisia, as excursion tours and thalassotherapy are in demand now. It is difficult to estimate what proportion of travellers will fly to Tunisia because it is not known how many flights will be operated on the destination.”
