How well do passengers know their rights?
The vast majority of passengers do not know what rights they have in case of flight delays.
AirHelp conducted a survey and found that 85% of respondents (in Europe, Canada and the United States) do not know what they are entitled to while waiting.
More than 25% of respondents do not apply for compensation for cancellations or delays because they believe they will be ignored by the carrier.
Approximately 70% of European tourists believe that airlines reject at least 40% of claims for compensation. 60% say that after the first refusal, they do not stop seeking redress.
One in five respondents from among those who were entitled to compensation agreed to incomplete compensation, believing that food and accommodation are the only things they owe.
In the summer, Rospotrebnadzor reminded the Russians of their rights when the flight was delayed. Passengers have the opportunity to refuse the flight and return money even for those tickets that were indicated as non-refundable. It is also possible to recover compensation for moral damage and damages from the air carrier if they were incurred (for example, prepaid excursions and other services on arrival were disrupted).
