Named the top of the most visited museums in Russia
The Art Newspaper, one of the world’s most authoritative publications on art, annually makes the top of the most visited museums.
In 2021, the top 3 museums – leaders in attendance in Russia – included the Peterhof Museum-Reserve (3.3 million people), the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve (3 million) and the St. Isaac’s Cathedral Museum-Monument (2.6 million).
The Museum-Reserve "Battle of Stalingrad" (Volgograd) in 2021 overtook the number of visitors to the Hermitage (St. Petersburg) and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
More than 2 million people visited the main museum of Volgograd last year. In terms of the number of visitors, the Museum “Battle of Stalingrad” took sixth place, ahead of the Hermitage (1.6 million people) and the Tretyakov Gallery (1.5 million people).
