The volume of online sales of tours TUI Russia has doubled

Tour operator TUI Russia has doubled the volume of online sales of tours. For the period January-April 2015, the number of reservations made by tourists independently through the site www.tui.ru, increased twice compared to last year and accounted for 10% of the total sales of the tour operator, the press service of the tour operator reported.

A year earlier, this figure was at 5%, and in 2013 it was only 3%. Online sales depend on seasonality. Traditionally, in the summer, bookings through the TUI website increase compared to the winter period. Therefore, TUI experts predict a further increase in the volume of purchases of tours on www.tui.ru in the summer season.

The most popular destinations for online bookings since the beginning of the year were Turkey (43.6% of sales), Egypt (27.8%), as well as Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Cyprus, Italy and Croatia. The average duration of the trip is 9 days.

According to expert assessment, the tour operator TUI has one of the largest shares of online sales among all major Russian tour operators. This is due to the fact that since entering the Russian market, TUI is aimed at developing in the online segment, introducing new modern tools for the site.

The tour operator also provided many ways to pay for the tour booked through the site: by bank card via the Internet, cash or courier card, in payment terminals, in cellular salons, in bank branches, etc.

From April, TUI customers can pay for a ticket booked on TUI.ru through Pay Pal, one of the largest and most reliable electronic payment operators, trusted by more than 162 million users worldwide. To make a payment through Pay Pal, the user simply ties his Visa, MasterCard or Maestro bank card to the account. Paying for online purchases using Pay Pal, you do not need to enter your card details, which means that there is a lower risk that this information will fall into the hands of fraudsters.

According to a recent study by PayPal and DataInsight, 55% of Russian online users make purchases online. At the same time, the share of purchases via the Internet in the tourism and travel segment is much higher. Moreover, for Russians, the main reason for making purchases online is convenience and time saving, which explains the popularity of online services such as the TUI website, which offer quick search for tours and a low price calendar.

Commented Ivor Vukelik, Product, Contracting and Marketing Director at TUI Russia: Russia is one of the priority markets in the structure of TUI Group, along with Great Britain, Germany, France, Scandinavia. Since entering the market, we have been actively developing all distribution channels, paying special attention to online sales through the website www.tui.ru. As practice shows, the Russian tourist market is very high ROPO (Research Online Purchase Offline). More and more tourists are choosing tours online, but so far many still pay for them offline. One of the main reasons for this is the fear of leaving your bank card details on the Internet. PayPal is a convenient online payment tool that has proven itself all over the world, including in Russia. We are therefore happy to offer customers this safer way to pay for tours on our website and hope it will contribute to the growth of online sales of TUI tours.
