The preliminary results of the international competition “Seven New Wonders of Nature” were summed up

Named the sights of the world, which became the winners of the international competition "Seven New Wonders of the World".

According to preliminary results, they were Halong Bay in Vietnam, Iguazu Falls on the border of Brazil with Argentina, the Indonesian island of Komodo, the underground river Puerto Princesa in the Philippines, Table Mountain in South Africa and the South American Amazon River.

The initial list of candidates for the competition, organized by the Swiss non-profit organization New Open World Corporation in 2007, included 440 natural attractions in 220 countries. Seven winners were selected from the 28 finalists by popular vote.

Voting ended on November 11, it was attended by more than 100 million people, reports RIA Novosti.

The official results of the Seven New Wonders of Nature contest will be announced at a ceremony in early 2012.
