The rules of entry into the EU for Russians from 1 February will be simplified

The European Council has approved new guidelines for the entry of tourists from third countries - anticove restrictions will be applied based on the sanitary status of the traveler, not the country of departure.

According to the new recommendation, COVID-19 measures should be applied taking into account the covid status of the person, and not the situation in the region from which the tourist comes. The exception will be those countries where the incidence of coronavirus is very high. From 1 February 2022, the vaccination status, testing or traveler’s recovery certificate for COVID-19, as confirmed by the EU digital certificate, should be a key determining factor.

A personal approach will simplify the applicable rules, and will be understandable and predictable for travelers.

The EU digital certificate can be obtained for those who have completed a full course of vaccination with drugs approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or received a booster dose of such a vaccine. The document can be obtained by those who have had COVID-19 and no more than 180 days have passed since the date of the first positive test, as well as tourists who have a certificate with a negative PCR test result made no earlier than 72 hours before the trip or rapid antigen test made no earlier than 24 hours.

Travellers who receive covid certificates will not be subject to other travel restrictions. Those who do not have a document should be tested for coronavirus 24 hours before or within a day of arrival.

The Council of the EU proposed to change the procedure for introducing emergency restrictions in countries when a new strain of coronavirus appears. A coordinated approach is needed to prevent the spread of infection.
