Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin asked to increase the list of airlines that will fly to the resorts of Egypt

The Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST), the Committee on Tourism of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the Association of Tour Operators for Outbound Tourism "Tourist Help" sent a letter to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mishustin, in which they asked to expand the list of airlines allowed for transportation to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, and to allow flights from the airports of the regions.

The letter says that the tourism industry has long been waiting for the decision to lift the ban on flights to Egyptian resorts, and is ready to promptly send Russians to Egyptian resorts, taking into account the requirements of preventing the spread of coronavirus infection.

The only designated carrier on flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh was the airline "Russia", whether one tour operator working with her on an exclusive contract, was able to form tours to Egypt.

The authors of the letter note that it is not only about compliance with the norms of the federal law "On Protection of Competition": in their opinion, the monopoly on the Egyptian direction will negatively affect the cost of the respective tours, infringing on the interests of consumers.

“In addition, tour operators will not be able to use this route to replace tours that have not taken place due to the pandemic. In this respect, Egypt is a promising direction, since unlike Turkey it is mainly winter, and opens up the opportunity for tour operators to fulfill deferred obligations to tourists in the autumn-winter period. Given the above, we ask you, dear Mikhail Vladimirovich, to help with the permission of flights to Egyptian resorts by various airlines, including charter flights from Moscow and regional airports that have the status of international.

Russia Airlines received permission to fly from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh on August 9.
