Angry Tourists Write to President and Ask to Fire Customs Officers at Georgia Border
Tourists complain to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the actions of Russian customs officers on the border Russia and GeorgiaTravelers have written a petition calling for the dismissal of department employees who cannot cope with their work.
The appeal was published on the portal “Petition to the President”. The customs of the Russian Federation on the border with Georgia is simply mocking people. On the Georgian side you spend 30-40 minutes, and on the Russian checkpoint - 10 hours. Down with creating an artificial queue!!! If our specialists do not cope with such work – down with such specialists!
Other travelers agree with the author of the petition: “The same flow of cars at our customs and at the Georgian, while we have queues kilometer in both directions, and in Georgia there are practically no queues,” the traveler from the Stavropol Territory wrote.
Another commenter notices. I think that’s true: Last year, it was 7 hours! From 3 p.m. to 22 p.m. It was just a nightmare! We were filmed on TV and broadcast on Channel 1. A day later, the queue simply washed away, and for a few days everything was fine, wrote Oleg Davydov.
People have been writing and reporting about the difficulties on the border in Georgia since the beginning of the summer, but so far the Russian authorities have not reacted in any way. Only last week there was information about the queue at the checkpoint Upper Lars, which was published by Rosturizm.
Experts say that the difficulties at customs are due to the work of the Russian border services. Therefore, there is a question - why tourists need to be in the "general queue" - the "green corridor" is not provided either for Russian citizens or for travelers for the purpose of tourism. And why customs officers arrange “interrogation with bias”, forcing to take out of the trunk things obvious tourists, including families with children.
