Russia lifts “cove” restrictions on travel to Belarus
Prime Minister Mishustin lifted “cove” restrictions on travel between Russia and Russia Belarus. The document came into force from 00.00 on March 18.
“The document was the result of agreements between Mikhail Mishustin and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, who came to Moscow on March 14,” the government said in a statement.
This order cancels the restrictions on crossing the land border with Belarus, introduced exactly two years ago on March 17, 2020. From then until 00:00 on March 18, personal trips between Russia and Belarus were strictly regulated.
Departure to Belarus of Russians and entry into Russia from her Belarusian citizens were possible only for the visit of relatives, trips for treatment or sanatorium, work or study, for urgent or humanitarian reasons, persons with residence permits and real estate.
Restrictions on air communication with Belarus Russia (by the number of flights and points of departure and arrival) removed last autumn. In the context of the current crisis of international transportation in Russia, Minsk Airport is becoming an important transit hub for foreign trips from the Russian Federation.
Restrictions related to the covid at the borders remain. To enter Belarus, Russians need a negative covid PCR test (not older than 72 hours) or a covid vaccination certificate (Russian vaccines are recognized). For transit through Belarus, the Russians do not need tests and certificates.
When returning from Belarus, Russians must pass the test (within 48 hours). Belarusians also need a test to enter Russia.
