The Russians will not affect the increase in visa fees in Japan
On June 20, the Association of Tour Operators of the Russian Federation (ATOR) reported that Russians will not be affected by the increase in visa fees in Russia. Japan.
In the Telegram channel, the organization stressed that for Russian citizens, a visa to Japan is still issued free of charge – the consular fee is still not charged, and there are no announcements about changing this rule from the Japanese authorities yet.
The Japanese government for the first time since 1978 decided to raise visa fees for foreigners – the cost of visas will increase fivefold. Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi attributed the decision to high inflation and a weakening yen.
According to ATOR, the interest of Russians to travel to Japan is growing: in May 2025, 24.6 thousand tourists from the Russian Federation visited the country - this is 28.4% more than in May 2024.
