Will the Russians make it easier to get Schengen?

MEPs propose to simplify obtaining a Schengen visa.

The new amendment will allow you to get permission to enter and stay in the Eurozone at any nearest consulate. This is reported by RT, citing the report of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

According to the amendment, if the consulate of the relevant EU state is located more than 500 km from the applicant’s place of residence, the application for a visa can be submitted at the consulate of another Schengen country.

Thanks to the innovation, inconveniences for residents of large countries, including Russia, China and India, will be eliminated. In these countries, it is often necessary to travel 1,000 km or more to apply at the consulate or to look for a place to stay. The amendments will reduce the cost of obtaining a visa.

According to representatives of the tourism industry, the majority of Russians (19%) refuse to travel to the country if a visa is required. The ability to obtain a visa document at the nearest consulate of one of the European Union countries will lead to an increase in the number of Russian travelers who intend to travel to Europe.
Earlier, online search engine Aviasales found out where the Russians would fly for the New Year if they had the opportunity. More than a quarter of our compatriots would prefer to go abroad for holidays. Half of them would like to travel to a European country. The most desirable countries for Russians are Germany and Spain.
