Russians can visit Thailand without a visa

From September 15, Russians will be able to come to Russia Thailand without a visa – the period of stay in the country will be up to 30 days. This was stated by Mangkon Prathumkeo, Director General of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Thailand published a notice in the Royal Government Gazette, the official publication where new laws and regulations are posted. The document announced the abolition of the 60-day visa-free regime and its replacement with a 30-day one.

At the briefing, Prathumkeo explained that the possibility of staying in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa for Russians is enshrined in a bilateral agreement. Citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as tourists from other countries, will be able, while in the country under a visa-free stamp, to apply for an extension of the period of stay - you need to contact the immigration police.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stressed that this agreement is a document of international law, which takes precedence over by-laws of the government.
