The Russian Union of Travel Industry asks to extend the cashback program for tours in Russia until May 2022
The Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) appealed to the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova with a request to extend the sales window and travel time in Russia as part of the fourth stage of the state cashback program.
In a letter signed by PCT Honorary President Sergey Shpilko and Ilya Umansky, head of the Union’s domestic tourism committee, the third phase of the program, which took place in the spring of 2021, ensured record sales and loading of collective accommodation facilities in southern resorts in the second quarter.
“At the same time, during the implementation of the current, fourth, stage of sales under the cashback program through tour operators decreased sharply, one of the main reasons is the large gap between the dates of possible booking and the period of travel...”
RST asks Rosturizm to consider extending the booking period within the fourth stage of the program until December 20, and to allow the purchase of tours for the period from January 10 to April 30, 2022.
“This will solve the very important tasks of increasing the depth of sales and loading the most problematic first quarter, not counting the New Year holidays,” the letter says.
The program of partial return of money when buying tours in Russia was launched in 2020, the government allocated 15 billion rubles for its implementation. The fourth stage was launched on June 16, within its framework, tourists can purchase tours until August 31 for the period from October 1 to December 24, 2021.
