Rosturizm reports on the results of the cashback program: 300 thousand Russians will travel around the country
Tourists bought tours with cashback totaling 6.5 billion rubles. The end of the program was “damaged” by the epidemiological situation, and Rostourism asks to extend it.
Citizens, according to preliminary data, purchased tours and accommodation with cashback for 6.5 billion rubles. About 300,000 people took part in the program. The state returned to people for travel around the country about 1.2 billion rubles.
For large tour operators, sales in relation to the same period of 2019 increased by 40%.
The aggregators participating in the program increased bookings by 10-15%. The activity of bookings in hotels of resort and recreational format increased by 15-20%. Regional economies received about 13 billion rubles through the implementation of the program.
“The state for the first time implemented in tourism a comprehensive measure of support with both a high social and economic effect, as well as a high multiplier of spending budgetary funds: 1 state ruble accounted for 6 rubles of citizens’ funds, which they spent on rest and recovery in the country,” Rosturizm said.
Head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova: Tourist cashback is the most progressive measure of support in tourism today. The uniqueness of the program is that each tourist was given the opportunity to participate, but it was not something mandatory, and therefore there was no predetermined result. As a result, the program changed the situation in tourism from the inside – it showed the state’s involvement in the problems and readiness to look for the most daring solutions for the industry and people.
Rosturizm believes that the potential of the program has not been fully disclosed - the plans were disrupted by a complex epidemiological situation, and uncertainty about plans for travel and rest. Another constraining factor is “... insufficient quantity of mass competitive price/quality tourist product within the country”.
The department notes that the remaining funds will be used to continue the program in the future.
“...Tourist cashback [...] should work in conjunction with the entire set of industry tools within the framework of the national tourism project, providing a synergistic effect for the development of the industry.”
