Rostourism: domestic tourism will not develop at the expense of outbound
The head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova October 11 in Antalya at the annual award ceremony Starway said that the government and Rostourism never intended to develop domestic tourism through the introduction of restrictions on departure.
Three blocks of issues raised by the Russian side were discussed: road and transport security of Russians, security on the territory of hotels and security measures in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The largest number of foreign tourists travel to Turkey. The task of Rostourism is to ensure that Russian tourists feel completely safe on vacation in Turkey. And we see that there is positive dynamics in resolving all three blocks of security issues, Zarina Doguzova said.
The parties also noted the need to place on the territory of hotels more additional navigation warning signs for tourists in Russian and strengthen control over the work of rescuers in the pool area.
As for the security measures taken in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Doguzova noted that “Turkish colleagues are very good, they have done a great job to protect tourists.” However, it is necessary to exclude some attempts to charge Turkish hotels money from tourists under quarantine, which, according to the promises of the Turkish side, should be free for tourists.
Stressing that the presence at the Starway award is a rare chance to appeal to Russian travel agencies, Zarina Doguzova spoke separately in her speech on the relationship between domestic and outbound tourism.
“One cannot engage in just one type of tourism. We are responsible for developing the industry as a whole. Of course, one of the priorities of Rostourism is the development of domestic tourism. But we did not plan and are now planning the development of domestic tourism through the introduction of restrictions on departure <...> we are ready to do everything possible to our citizens abroad to rest comfortably and safely.
