How many tourists are waiting for Crimea this year?
Crimea may receive more than 8 million tourists this year, which is 0.6 million more than the indicator of the “proof” 2019.
Alexey Chernyak, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism, Resorts and Sports of the State Council of the Republic, is confident: We understand that this year we may well exceed the figure of 8 million, if the situation with the coronavirus does not worsen, but will be at least in the same state as today, throughout the country. I am sure that this season will be quite successful.
According to him, this year June, judging by the reservations, will be loaded more than usual. This is facilitated by the cashback program and travel restrictions abroad due to coronavirus infection.
In 2020, when restrictions were imposed due to the spread of the coronavirus, Crimea received 6.3 million tourists - 15% less than 2019, during which the region was visited by a record 7.43 million people for the post-Soviet period.
The head of Rostourism, Zarina Doguzova, believes that the Crimea will be able to receive 10-15% more tourists in 2020 than in the “predictable” 2019.
