The validity of the PCR test for coronavirus in Russia is reduced
From December 8, Rospotrebnadzor will reduce the validity of the PCR test for coronavirus from 72 hours to 48 hours.
In the resolution of the chief state sanitary doctor, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said: "The validity of a negative laboratory study conducted by the PCR method is 48 hours from the time of the result of a laboratory study on COVID-19."
The decision to reduce the validity of PCR tests was made against the background of the risk of the spread of the “omicron strain” of the coronavirus in Russia.
The decree states that the selection of biological material from the patient in contact with COVID-19 occurs when clinical symptoms similar to the coronavirus appear.
On November 17, the head of Rospotrebnadzor said that in Russia, citizens with signs of SARS will be required to take a test for coronavirus infection.
A variant of the coronavirus B.1.1.529, called omicron, was discovered in late November in South Africa, Botswana, Israel, and then detected in several countries in Europe and the United States.
In Russia, two cases of omicron infection have been confirmed, both citizens brought the virus from South Africa.
