Tourist Court Opens in Pattaya
As part of a government project to ensure the safety of tourists, a new court opened in Pataya on September 3. The court for tourists will oversee the provision of low-quality services, as well as issues of violation of personal security.
Tourists from other countries will be able to submit complaints from 16:30 to 20:30. According to the Secretary General of the judiciary of Thailand Virat Chinwinikul, simple cases will be considered by the court within one day, and to consider more complex cases may take about six months.
In addition, cases of serious problems will be referred to the courts of general jurisdiction.
The staff of the new court was formed with the expectation that employees will have to communicate with tourists who speak not only English. Among the court staff there are also Russian speakers, which is natural: Thailand is popular among Russians.
The Pattaya Tourist Court is a pilot project. It is planned that similar courts will appear in six tourist destinations in Thailand.
