Turkey switches to electronic visas

Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Omer Celik said on Monday that the visa stamp system will be abolished from April 10, 2014. This will allow electronic visas to become more widespread.

The minister also said that this year the number of tourists visiting Turkey increased by 10% compared to last year. He added that Turkey’s tourism revenues increased by 22%, and these positive figures were closely linked to visa facilitation.

“In the case of an electronic visa, the applicant shall deposit all the necessary information online and pay the visa fee from a credit card. Don't download anything. As soon as the payment is made, you can download your e-Visa by clicking on the link that comes to the specified e-mail.”

Omer Celik also said that the application form for a Turkish visa will be given in different languages, and it can be filled out using a smartphone.
