Turkey sets priorities: mass vaccination against COVID-19 tourism workers begins

Since March 13, more than 1 million workers of the Turkish tourism industry will be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Turkey.

This should provide tourists who will arrive in Turkey in the season, safe conditions for stay on vacation.

On March 12, the country launched a system of registration of tourist personnel for vaccination, which was prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Health.

Data on employees of various tourism enterprises will be entered into this system, then notifications will be sent to them to appear at the vaccination point. Tourism workers in Turkey are the third priority vaccination group (after health workers and the elderly).

It is envisaged that staff of hotels certified under safe tourism protocols (including seasonal staff) will be vaccinated. Next in line are employees of tourist operators and agencies, employees of food enterprises (restaurants, cafes), licensed guides, staff serving tourist transport.

Experts in Turkey hope that all tourism workers (more than 1 million) will be vaccinated by May.
