Tourist expert lists dangerous countries
Alexander Mkrtchyan, vice president of the Alliance of Travel Agencies of Russia, called the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar and a number of other countries unsafe for Russians because of the risk of kidnapping and coercion into illegal activities.
In 2025, 8 Russian citizens were released from fraudulent call centers in Myanmar; in July 2026, two Russians disappeared in Pattaya, the detainees confessed to their murder.
Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Iskander Azizov urged to avoid dubious job offers (especially in modeling and IT), not to travel to border areas and not to pass the passport to outsiders.
