"Tourist Help" will help tourists whose tour operator went bankrupt

Within the framework of the 23rd session of the General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held in St. Petersburg, the representative of Rostourism shared the news that rocks Russian tourists.

Association "Tourist aid", which helps Russians in emergency situations abroad, should change the regulations, and in case of bankruptcy of the tour operator tourists with a tour package will be offered further stay in the hotel.

Advisor to the head of Rostourism Dmitry Gorin said that it is more profitable to organize accommodation of Russians affected by the actions of the tour operator in a hotel than to prepare an evacuation flight in a short time. Now tourists are being taken to the airport while an emergency flight is being prepared, and they wait in inappropriate conditions. Alternatively, vacationers will be offered another hotel of the same category.

According to D. Gorin, the mechanisms of assistance to tourists whose vacation was disrupted due to the bankruptcy of the tour operator will be more customer-oriented. The initiative is important for two reasons: it will reduce the stress of people caught in an unexpected situation, and secondly, the hotel is often already paid for.

At the end of 2018, the tour operator Pearl River stopped working, and hundreds of tourists were stuck on the island of Hainan (China). And more than 5,000 of his customers were unable to fly off to rest. The cost of evacuation flights reached 12-17 million rubles.
