Bottles of wine are handed out to foreign tourists at airports in Georgia
National Tourism Administration Georgia The company resumed the action to distribute bottles of local wine at Georgian airports to foreign guests, said the head of the department, Mariam Kvrivishvili.
This is the sixth time that the event has been held: 300 thousand bottles with greeting labels were specially made. The first thing tourists will see here is “Gamarjoba, dear guest!”
At three Georgian airports, foreigners receive a bottle of Saperavi at passport control - on its labels it is written that Georgia is the birthplace of winemaking.
In the summer of 2019, the National Tourism Administration announced an electronic tender worth one million lari (approximately $350,000) for the purchase of wine.
“With this campaign, on the one hand, we wanted to popularize our country as the home of winemaking, and on the other hand, to show our guests our hospitality. This time, the format is slightly different: instead of the traditional label, a letter is written on the bottle on behalf of the Georgian people, Kvrivishvili said on the TV program Business Partner.
